THE Fiji Airways national 7s team received a low key welcome upon its arrival at the Nadi Airport early this morning after winning the World Rugby HSBC Singapore 7s on Monday.

A few family members and fans greeted the players who have been given the week off to recover following a hectic schedule which included the Hong Kong 7s, Commonwealth Games and Singapore 7s played within a month.

Sevuloni Mocenacagi is the lone injury concern with a pop cartilage and is out for the next two weeks.

Fiji coach Gareth Baber said there would be recovery this week.

“The boys are tired as they have had one of the busiest months that they will ever have with Hong Kong, the Commonwealth Games and Singapore 7s,” Baber said.

“This was always going to be a challenge and we knew that pretty well. We have two to three weeks before we fly off to London and the focus is getting wins in London and Paris.”

Fiji leads the series with 145 points ahead of South Africa with 141 points, New Zealand with 120 points, Australia with 108 points and United States and Kenya tied with 93 points each.

The London 7s will be played from June 2-3 followed by the Paris 7s from June 8-10.
