Hats in hospitals

There is a debate going on about the wearing of hats in hospitals. May I be allowed to contribute.

Reasons not to wear caps / hats in the hospital:

1. If it’s a requirement of the establishment — take off your cap;

2. For security reasons, the visor shields the face from security cameras;

3. Throughout history hats identified social standing and removing a hat was a gesture of respect;

4. If you were a medieval knight who failed to remove his helmet or lift his visor and identify himself the consequences could be fatal; and

5. In the “old days,” men took off their hats in churches, when they entered someone’s home, when greeting someone, and always in the presence of a lady.

So simply put, if you are a gentleman, take off your hat. If you are not then you are not worthy to enter that premises. Or you are a scoundrel.
