THE stage is all set for the 2018 Vodafone Fiji Gujarati Sports Association tournament to be held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
FGSA president Sanjay Patel said this would be the 63rd anniversary of the tournament which would be very exciting.
“The tournament will be played from the Friday to Sunday with six teams participating,” said Patel.
“A very exciting and thrilling fixtures have been set up with six matches played on two days of pool play while the semi-finals and finals will be played on Sunday.” Patel said this was the new format for the tournament.
“Usually the tournament is played during Easter weekend in April but we had to postpone it because of another tournament in New Zealand and also there was a Khatri World Cup in Nadi in July,” said Patel
“This year we will have six teams taking part from Rewa, Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, Lami, and Navua. It is unfortunate that Ba could not take part this year. Lautoka are the defending champions. In the past four years we have had four different winners, Rewa (2014), Suva (2015) and Nadi (2016). This shows that there is no one favourite for the 2018 tournament,” added Patel Patel said on behalf of the Fiji Gujarati community he would like to thank the following companies for their support towards 2018 tournament.

Fixtures. Friday 9am Suva vs Nadi, 10.30 am, 12 pm Lautoka vs Rewa, 1.30pm Suva vs Lami, 3pm Navua vs Lautoka,4.30pm Navua vs Rewa. Saturday 9am:Nadi vs Lautoka, 10.30am Navua vs Lami, 12pm Suva vs Nadi,1.30pm Navua vs Rewa,3pm Suva vs Lautoka, 4.30pm Lami vs Rewa. Sunday Semi-finals and finals.
