AUSTRALIAN Brentt Dames defeated Fiji’s Ronald Naidu on unanimous points decision to win the World Boxing Foundation welterweight title at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park last night.

But it was not a smooth sailing for the Aussie after being stretched to the wire by Naidu to survive their 10x3mins contest.

Naidu started connecting punches to his opponent from the first round before Dames turned the table later in the bout to convince the judges for the win.

The fight was evenly contested and unfortunately for Naidu to fall short of his target.

Meanwhile, Rakuro Dauvavana landed a huge right on Krishna Mudalliar to win by TKO in just 45 seconds of the first round of the main supporting bout.
