Viliami Lea’aetoa is the winner of this year’s TCC Open Golf Championship event after a thrilling finish when he edged out Digicel’s Ronan McGrane by 2 shots last Saturday.
The two in form players battled it out on the Tonga Golf Course over three days down to the last and final hole. Ronan, who was down by one shot,
managed to chip his ball close for 2 and was left with a three-foot birdie putt, which he landed, tying him with Viliami for the championship. However, Viliami hit an aggressive drive landing on the green of the Par 4 (18th hole) with a 30-foot putt for eagle. As he stood with both feet on the green side bunker, he hit the ball rolling it in for an incredible eagle to win with a final score of 221 (+11) beating Ronan by only 2 shots.
