GIVING back to the community is important for the corporate sector and Goodman Fielder International Fiji Ltd believes its assistance towards disaster rehabilitation will help those who were affected by the cyclone.
Goodman Fielder general manager Chris Zaayman said: “We look after our own in the company and the community’ is one of Goodman Fielder International Fiji Ltd (GFI) company values. Aside from being a leading Regional Food Company, GFI passionately upholds their moral and social responsibilities to the communities through donations and sponsorships to assist in development.”
The company, in partnership with its international corporate office, have come together to hand over supplies to the value of $324,000 for distribution under the Fiji Government Relief program.
Gifts from Goodman Fielder Fiji include:
* 140 tonnes rice;
* 40 tonnes milk;
* 12 tonnes noodles;
* 24tonnes flour ;
* 9 tonnes sugar; and
* 5760 liters oil.
Mr Zaayman said the company had also mobilised chicken and other food products immediately after the cyclone in February and the items were distributed to Koro, Gau, Vanuabalavu, Yacata and Batiki.
The permanent secretary for the Ministry of Rural & Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Meleti Bainimarama, received the items from Goodman Fielder.
