ELEVEN 10-wheeler trucks were sent into Ra on Tuesday night to deliver more food rations to those badly affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau said food was delivered in bulk to the province.
He said it was too late to implement the scaling system in Ra but it would be done for other districts such as Ba, Tavua and Lautoka.
This means all individuals affected would get the same portion of goods.
Meanwhile, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will also deliver individual food packs to those living in settlements.
People in villages will be given food in bulk.
“The Prime Minister does not want any more obstacles and complaints in regards to food and water delivery to those affected,” Mr Tagicakibau said.
“We have to ensure that there is enough food out there for each family member.”
He said Punjas Fiji was working to produce 2000 individual food packs, which would contain rice, flour, milk, sugar, dhal and tinned tuna.
Mr Tagicakibau said they would give the company time to produce the packs so that they had a good supply of products ready for delivery.
He has also asked district officers and provincial administrators to provide feedback on the number of settlements and population in each district.
Ba and Lautoka were among the first districts to provide these figures yesterday. Lautoka district officer Ruth Atu said there were more than 100,000 people in Lautoka, with about 40 settlements.
Ba provincial administrator Laitia Yabakivou said there were 9000 households in the district, with about 151 settlements.
Upon receiving more concrete data from the districts, the accounts and logistics team would work out how many food packs would be transported to different areas.
