Update: 1:23PM SCHOOLS in the Labasa Town area are closed today after the Labasa River and Qawa River broke its banks and flooded classrooms.
Students were not seen at Holy Family Primary and Secondary, Gurunanak Khalsa College and Sangam College in town, and All Saints Secondary School in Vulovi.
Police have set up checkpoints in town as part of their security patrol.
Police are urging people to stay away from flood waters.
