THE Commissioner Western’s office has carted 15million litres of water to affected communities in the Western Division.

Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau said the latest figure did not include the supply distributed by the Water Authority of Fiji, which has also been assisting affected households.

“We’ve distributed to inland and maritime areas and we expect the figure to grow as the months pass,” he said.

He said the financing of the water emergency response program had been provided by the national disaster management office and the Prime Minister’s office.

“We’ve already forecast our budget expenses and we have planned out what we will be requiring in the month of December, January 2016, and February based on the operations that we are doing right now.

“All of these plans have been submitted to our headquarters and they have been giving us the budget as per our request.

“In terms of the budget for the water emergency response we are good in that area because we also received some funds from the Prime Minister’s office.

“These funds were released from the PM’s Disaster Relief Trust Fund and that was given to our ministry which then distributed these funds to our various divisions,” he said.
