Annually millions of devotees celebrate the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness and the festival is all about lighting the lamp of knowledge within each believer.

Shopping for new items like clothes, lights, new appliances, sweets, decorations and pooja items is always part of the festivity.
Retailers in Suva annually prepare themselves to provide the best products and sale to customers during Diwali.
Suva Retailers Association president Atish Lala said retailers in the Capital had already put items on special and on discounts for families this Diwali.
“Retailers have started their sale promotions two weeks ago because they want to provide their customers with items they need on time,” Mr Lala said.
“We would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali and may their festivity be filled with fun and excitement.
“Some retailers had opened their shops on Sunday so customers could have a chance to do their last minute shopping.”
He says business has been looking good for retailers in Suva and they hope that customers will enjoy the festivity.
