Dreamliner to add capacity and passenger numbers

AIR New Zealand’s passenger capacity will increase by 11 per cent after the arrival of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which landed at Nadi International Airport yesterday.

The wide body aircraft has a 302-passenger capacity which allows the increase in passenger numbers for flights to Fiji.

“Our passengers will find a more customer satisfaction focus to the aircraft and it offers more premium products which in the past is mostly available on our long-haul flights,” Air New Zealand chief Sales and Commercial officer, Cam Wallace, confirmed.

He said the aircraft flew to Shanghai, Japan and would now fly to Fiji and their shorter haul markets.

“We have the premium economy class which is something that is new to our Fiji customers.”

From today, Air New Zealand will also offer the premium economy product on wide body services from Nadi.

Airports Fiji Ltd executive chairman Faiz Khan said the new aircraft would add a new dimension to passenger experience.

“This augurs well for the tourism market in Fiji,” he said. “Air New Zealand is one of AFL’s biggest customers and we are humbled to have contributed in whatever little way to make the launch of the Dreamliner into Nadi a success.

“We congratulate Air New Zealand,” Mr Khan said.
