SPTO launches guide for visitors to Pacific Islands

THE Pacific’s first home-grown Traveler’s Guide to the Pacific Islands was launched last week at the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) regional marketing meeting, at the Le Meridien in Papeete, Tahiti

The 35-page guide featuring useful information on airlines, visa and health requirements, weather and tourism contact centres in the islands, SPTO said, was an important tool for marketing and promoting tourism in the Pacific region.

Produced by the SPTO, the guide is an essential travel kit for visitors to the Pacific Islands and will be distributed free in all 17 member countries of the SPTO.

CEO Ilisoni Vuidreketi said the SPTO was pleased to launch the travel guide to the experts of Pacific tourism marketing at their annual meeting.

“Our marketing teams from our member countries are the first to sample the traveler’s guide and we are pleased to be able to offer our members another useful tool that will assist visitors to their countries with useful information,” he said in a statement.

SPTO, he said, was always seeking innovative ways to encourage visitors to the Pacific region and they believed this travel guide would be a key feature in their marketing efforts.

The information for the guide was sourced from the national tourism offices of the 17 Pacific Island nations that best know their product.
