Girl with purple hair

SHE loves shoes, make-up and looking good. So it is a little wonder that she works at a job that has all of these.

Divya Prasad, 21, works as a shift supervisor at Damodar City’s Her Gorgeous Expression. Here, she is surrounded by shoes, make-up and she gets to look good every day — with her bright red lipstick, colourful eye make-up and her most standout feature, her outrageous purple ombre hair.

“Everyone I saw either had red or pink hair colours, I wanted to be different so I chose purple,” Divya said. “This colour allows me to stand out and people can always remember me as the girl with the purple hair.”

She started working at Her Gorgeous Expression two years ago when the branch opened at Damodar City.

Apart from loving the location of her workplace, there is another aspect of the job which is particularly endearing to Divya — it allows her to meet different kinds of people on a regular basis.

“I believe that if you treat people right, they will treat you right.

“So that is the concept I put into my job. I love the different characters of people that come into the shop, I love talking to them and I love showing them things that I feel would look good on them.”

The youngest of four siblings, she loves dancing and adds she can be a bit moody at times.

“I love fashion, I love make-up and shoes and I also love being myself. Not a lot of people can say they love themselves, but not in a self-centred sort of way.”

Five years from now she hopes to have settled down with a good husband, one child and their own car and house.

“But my immediate goal is to get a job in the hotel industry. If I get an opportunity to do that I will take it. Everything about me is suited for the hotel industry.”

She believes in hard work and believes young people should work hard to get what they want.

“Earn now, enjoy later. That’s my motto.”
