The Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone Competition had 600 athletes represent seven secondary schools in the two-days event at the HFC Stadium in Suva last week.
Education Assistant Minister, Iliesa Vanawalu who closed the competition said throughout the days of competition, Tailevu Zone proves to be a platform where dreams are pursued and achievements are realised.
“Each athlete has left their mark, demonstrating unwavering determination and resilience,” he said.
“You have exemplified the true essence of sportsmanship and dedication. Your commitment to your training and your schools has been nothing short of inspiring, and your performances have captivated audiences far and wide.
“To the coaches and supporters, your guidance and encouragement have been the driving force behind the success of these athletes. Your unwavering support has lifted spirits and propelled them towards greatness.
“As we reflect on the triumphs and challenges of this year’s competition, let us carry with us the memories of the friendships made and the lessons learned.
“Let the spirit of the Tailevu Zone competition continue to inspire us to strive for excellence in all that we do.”
He also thanked the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and those that contributed to the event for their support.
Ratu Kadavulevu School won the boys title with 24 gold, 26 silver and 16 bronze, Queen Victoria School came in second with 19 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze while Tailevu North College came in third with four gold, seven silver and 10 bronze.
Tailevu North College won the girls title with 22 gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze. St Vincent College came in second with 11 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze while Dawasamu Secondary School took third place with seven gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze.
