The managing director of Yatule Resort and Spa and Tour Managers Fiji group Damend Gounder reflected on how support provided by key stakeholders helped create a conducive environment for homegrown businesses to thrive.

Mr Gounder shared this during the launch of the $5million refurbished Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola, Sigatoka on Monday.

“The success of this approach is evident in the new and improved Yatule Resort and Spa, showcasing a business model that only delivers solid returns but also provides exciting opportunities for growth and expansion,” he said.

“This kind of collaboration is vital for the sustainability of smaller businesses in Fiji.

“As Tour Managers we are proud of how far we’ve come but we are far from complacent. Our vision is to expand our network and management capabilities.”

Fiji National Provident Fund chief executive officer Viliame Vodonaivalu said this project would not only benefit the fund members but would also contribute positively to the economy as a whole.

” Yatule Beach Resort was initially built in 2005 to serve as accommodation facility for consultants and contractors working at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa project,” he said.

“After the completion of the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort, the Yatule Beach Resort project was converted into a bungalow type of accommodation featuring only 11 bure and restaurant and a bar.”

The resort sits in one of the most prime locations alongside a world-renowned Natadola Beach.

He said Tour Managers engagement with FNPF was pursued in a lease and operation contract with the Yatule Resort, reflecting an intention to proactively meet international travel needs and to provide employment.
