A total of 56 teams from various grades will be participating in the 2025 Fiji Secondary School’s Football Championship, set to take place at the recently renovated Govind Park in Ba from August 20–23.

Following the successful Southern zone playoffs last week, five teams have secured their spots in the championship – Suva Muslim College U19, DAV College U15, Vunimono High School U15, Vashist Muni College U17, and Rishikul Sanatan College U17.

Elvis Goundar, the president of the Southern Zone Secondary School Football Association, expressed satisfaction with the level of football displayed by the young players during the playoffs.

He announced the finalised teams for the championship and highlighted the strong form of defending champions Vashist Muni College U17, who will be ones to watch along with Rishikul and Vunimono.

“We have seen a great display of football by our young stars in the Southern zone, they all came prepared, now we have finalised our teams for the championship,” said Goundar.

He adds with 20 U19, 20 open girls, eight U17, and eight U15 teams ready to compete, the championship promises to be an exciting event.

Teams from different zones will be vying for the coveted title, adding to the competitive spirit of the tournament.

Gratitude was extended to sponsors Fiji Football, Ministry of Education, and Oceania Fibreglass, as well as to the parents and spectators for their unwavering support.
