A wave of nostalgia, pride and friendship filled the streets of Suva yesterday morning as Fiji Latter-day Saints Technical College, now known as Church College, alumni marked their 50th Golden Jubilee celebration with a special march from the Suva Flea Market to the Civic Centre foreshore.

Dressed in commemorative attire and united by shared memories, former students walked together to honour the bonds, lessons and experiences that shaped their journey during their school years.

Celebration committee president Nemani Delaibatiki said the milestone was a special opportunity for alumni to reconnect, celebrate their achievements and reflect on the memories created at the college.

Joining the celebration march was the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, adding to the significance of the week-long occasion as alumni celebrated five decades of friendship, service and lifelong connections.

Yesterday’s program ended with a bazaar in the evening.

Today the participants will have sessions at the temple throughout the day before attending a cultural and dance night at the college premises in the evening.

From 3pm tomorrow the college’s under-18 rugby team will compete against their counterparts from Ratu Kadavulevu School.

Basketball and volleyball matches against the two schools will also take place at the same time.

The day will be capped off by a gala and ball event at the Vodafone Arena.

On Saturday picnics have been organised by the various classes.

The former scholars will leave on Sunday after a devotion at the college.
