Investors have met the Prime Minister last week to unveil a $4 billion development in Nadi.
They want to build 23 resorts, a 50-acre man-made lagoon, water, surf and ecological parks, and a 25,000-seating capacity-stadium, amongst other things.
The investors are from Australia and New Zealand.
“The meeting provided an opportunity to foster stronger economic partnerships and explore new investment opportunities in Fiji,” said a Fiji Government statement.
“With its strategic location near the Nadi International Airport, this multi-billion-dollar project is expected to offer other services including the development of a marina complex for yachting activities, creating job opportunities and further boosting Fiji’s economy.”
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications Manoa Kamikamica, Permanent Secretaries of the Office of the Prime Minister, Finance, Tourism and Civil Aviation and senior officials from the Attorney General’s Office.
