A 4.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded early this morning, with tremors felt in parts of Labasa.
According to Seismology Fiji, the quake occurred at 6:02am at a shallow depth of 5 kilometres, approximately 77 kilometres west of Nalele on Cikobia Island.
Authorities confirmed that the tremor was felt by some residents in the Northern Division.
However, officials have assured that the earthquake does not pose any immediate tsunami threat to the Fiji region.
Members of the public who experienced the tremor are encouraged to report their observations, including the time it was felt, duration, and location, to assist with monitoring and assessment.
