CONSTRUCTION is expected to begin shortly on a state-of-the-art five-storey building by publicly listed SUN Insurance Company Ltd, the company announced on the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX).
It has signed a building contract with Fortech Construction Ltd to develop the $30million project (including land), in Suva.
Marked as a significant investment in SUN’s growth and expansion strategy, the new facility is designed to accommodate the growing demand for A-grade office space in the capital city.
Sun Insurance Company Ltd chairman Padam Lala said they were excited to embark on this transformative project.
“This development not only signifies our commitment to expanding our property portfolio but also reaffirms our pledge to contribute positively to the local economy,” Mr Lala said.
“The construction project will create over 100 temporary employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled labourers, benefitting the Suva community.”
The new building will feature some 3600 square meters of modern office space, strategically located adjacent to its existing head office at Flagstaff in Suva.
SUN’s principal officer Tarlochan Singh said Fortech Construction was a trusted and experienced contractor known for delivering high-quality projects.
“We are confident their expertise will allow us to realise our vision for this new facility,” Mr Singh said.
The complex will include two levels of underground parking, coffee shop, on-site gym and end of trip facilities.
It will implement sustainable design principles and advanced technologies to ensure energy efficiency and environmental friendliness, aligning with the company’s values and commitment to sustainability.
Construction is earmarked for completion within 26 months.
