ABOUT 80 per cent women are employed at the $2million Shop Plus Supermarket, says owner and former politician George Shiu Raj.

Officially opened this morning at Rakiraki Town, Mr Shiu Raj said Shop Plus Supermarket was not just another store.

“It is a vision brought to life, a unique shopping experience that promises to bring the kind of service and quality products that you would expect to find in top class supermarkets in overseas, right here in our own community in the province of Ra,” Mr Shiu Raj said.

“Growing up in a small village in the province of Ra in Namuaimada, my family started with a small shop that laid the great work to what has now evolved into a flourishing business.

“Through hard work and the steadfast commitment in our community, we are able to spend and extend our reach to Rakiraki town and beyond.

“Today, our collective effort provides employment to over 120 individuals in our company, with about 40 jobs created by this newly built supermarket.”
