Physical structures of the $230million new Vatu Talei hotel in Denarau jointly owned by insurance service provider BSP Life and Fiji Airways will be going up by the end of the year.

BSP Life managing director Michael Nacola said work on site was progressing.

“We have done the groundbreaking and we have got a highly skilled team that is managing the project,” Mr Nacola said.

“Unfortunately, we have had a bit of inclement weather, but that hasn’t stopped other parts of the project progressing,” he said.

“So by the end of the year, you will start to see structures going up.

“And we will continue to push hard to bring the program in as we had initially intended.”

Mr Nacola said they were working towards completing the project on time.

“We want to make sure we are on time, we are on budget so that it not only comes in as ‘The Jewel’ in the tourism industry but it also starts to deliver returns for our policyholders.”

The 190-room luxury Vatu-Talei hotel is earmarked to be one of Fiji’s largest hotel developments to date.
