21-tower Namadi development proposes 1,632 apartments

A proposed multi-million-dollar commercial and residential development in Namadi would see the construction of 21 high-rise apartment towers containing a total of 1,632 residential units, according to details presented during the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultation process.

Project documents identify the developer as Heron Company (Fiji) Pte Ltd and state that the development is planned for Lot 2, DP 11608, Tamavua Heights. The project site covers approximately 4.9 hectares of freehold land.

According to information presented during the consultation last night in Suva the development will comprise a mix of residential towers ranging from 14 to 24 storeys in height.

The proposal includes four 14-storey buildings, four 16-storey buildings, one 18-storey building, five 20-storey buildings, three 22-storey buildings and four 24-storey buildings, bringing the total number of residential towers to 21.

In addition to the residential component, the development also proposes two business facilities, including one three-storey building and one seven-storey building.

Supporting infrastructure and amenities planned for the site include designated activity areas, a sports facility, party and leisure facilities, a swimming pool, and road and utility infrastructure.

Project documents show that the apartment complex would contain 1,632 residential units of varying sizes. These include 832 Type-A units, 636 Type-B units, 120 Type-C units, 40 Type-D units and four larger Type-E units.

The EIA presentation also indicates that the developer is in the process of acquiring a native lease to facilitate road access to the development.

The proposal is currently undergoing the EIA process, which includes public consultation and assessment of potential environmental and social impacts before any approval decision is made by the Department of Environment.

The project is one of the largest residential developments proposed for the Suva-Nasinu corridor in recent years and, if approved, would significantly increase housing density in the Tamavua Heights and Namadi area.

Public consultations on the project are being conducted as part of the statutory EIA process, allowing residents and stakeholders to raise concerns and provide feedback on the proposed development before a final determination is made.
