The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has ruled in favour of Bua FC, allowing them to top Pool A of the Premier Division despite four players testing positive for drugs at the 2024 Inter District Championship underway at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

The controversy erupted when Fiji FA informed Bua’s management of the positive tests via an unread email.

Initially, Nasinu and Lami were announced as qualifiers on Friday, but later that evening, the standings were altered to include Bua.

Lami’s team manager, Gyan Singh, expressed frustration over the decision, criticising Bua’s ignorance and the lack of penalties for fielding ineligible players.

Fiji FA operations manager Anushil Kumar attributed the issue to miscommunication and pledged to provide important updates in hard copy moving forward.

Bua will face Tavua FC in the semi-finals.
