The 2024/2025 National Budget will be a tough one, says Depouty Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad.
In a media interview in Parliament yesterday, Mr Prasad said the situation of the past 16 years lingered on, resulting in a tough upcoming budget.
“So the next budget is expected to build on some of the things we’ve done. It will still be a tough budget as we have settled with the debt level we have to address,” he said.
“What we are doing is running a very prudent economic agenda not what I like call a ‘voodoo’ economics of the past where we keep borrowing, keep spending, keep pleasing the people, remain accomplished and that’s what they did before 2018.
“So in 2019 the national economy took a nose dive and a negative growth.”
