The Suva Grammar School under-17 team is a match away from retaining its title after beating a strong Queen Victoria School challenge in their Vodafone Super Deans semi-final at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The champion from Veiuto won 14-9 despite carrying injuries before the match.
Coach Tevita Koroi said stern advices and support from the school, parents and old scholars motivated their players.
“We told them that if they want to return next week, they should play today as their last match of their lives. They took their to their hearts and fought like lions. We are through but the journey is not over.”
SGS will play Marist Brothers High School which defeated Ratu Kadavulevu School 32-3 in the other semi-final.
