PEOPLE’S Alliance (PA) general secretary and registered officer Sakiasi Ditoka lodged a police complaint against FijiFirst general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum at the Central Police Station in Suva yesterday.
In a statement, Mr Ditoka said the complaint was lodged based on public statements made by Mr Sayed-Khaiyum during a news conference this week. He alleged the comments incited racial hatred, violence and communal antagonism.
Mr Ditoka said the public statements were linked to what Mr Sayed-Khaiyum termed as the “divisive nature” of PA leader Sitiveni Rabuka.
“Our party leader, Mr Rabuka, did not encourage division, in fact the people are relieved and thankful that change can be affected and is now imminent,” Mr Ditoka said.
“Our party has never orchestrated or directed any violence or division. All we have been pleading for to the people is calm, restraint and respect.”
