Five candidates will be contesting in the 2022 General Election under the New Generation Party (NGP) banner.

Acting party leader Varinava Tiko confirmed this after submitting the nominations to the Fijian Elections Office on Monday.

“We have not gotten any other application from any other candidates, so it would seem like there’ll be the only five for NGP,” he said.

Mr Tiko said he was confident that his proposed candidates would make it to Parliament.

“The messages by other parties are different from ours and that’s what we believe is the message for today.

“We have a lot of faith in the young people, the new generation.

“The older generation has led us over the last many decades.

“And you know it has brought us to the current situation that we are in economically, in health system, so forth.”

The five new proposed candidates of NGP include acting party leader Varinava Tiko, president Wane Moli Veiba, Ranjina Kaur, Ratu Isireli Dausiga and Aminisitai Tuirabe.
