TRAVELLING from Vanua Levu to cast his vote at his village in Namara, Lauwaki, Ra, 52-year-old Emosi Tikoicina says the people’s voice should be heard by those in Government.
“I think we hold the power to choose who we want and anyone we vote for should serve the people,” he said.
“I came all the way from Vanua Levu to vote because I believe in the importance of an election of a government by the people.
“There’s been a lot of things being said by political parties and their leaders. “But at the end of the day, people will decide who they want.
“I just hope that it is respected.”
Mr Tikoicina was one of 175 voters who were expected to cast their ballot papers yesterday.
Turaga ni Vanua Onisimo Delana said the villagers were prepared for any outcome.
“It is encouraging to see most of Namara here to vote because we understand the importance of an election,” he said.
“We hope that the people who make the next Government can serve the poor and help people in need.”
