WEIGHTLIFTING Fiji’s former vice-president Della Shaw-Elder was awarded the Technical Official of the Year tonight at the 2018 Fiji Sports Awards.
Shaw has developed over the years, earning achievements in career progress in the sporting fraternity.
In 2010, Shaw was a category 2 in refereeing.
In 2016, she was given the category one where she would officiate at the World Championship, Commonwealth Games, and the pinnacle being the Olympic Games.
Shaw was awarded the jury level – a jury is someone who makes the last decision and they can overturn the decisions once made by the referees.
And she is the only female referee in the Pacific region who has the category one certificate.
