NATIONAL record holder and Olympic swimmer, David Tolu Young gears up for the 14th Oceanic swimming championship.
The 21-year-old from Savusavu, shares that preparation and training from the United States has set a pace for him in participating for this competition.
Excited for games and going against swimmers from across the Pacific, Young is determined to secure titles this year.
“Preparation has been good, I’ve had a good base training from the states, and I hope to swim fast and have some titles won,” Young said. With expectations of a very tough competition, Young is looking forward to face opponents from Samoa, Tahiti and Australia.
Alongside him is a group of very young, aspiring and passionate swimmers who will be representing Fiji on this week long competition. Tolu shares that he is always thrilled to assist and help these young swimmers.
“It has been great and I love that I can help them out in any way possible especially in the pool, and I always feel-good knowing that I can help them out,” he shares.
Younger added that with the whole team together, fairly focusing on their goals, and knowing what needs to be done, they are confident to deliver beyond expectations.
The young lad expresses gratitude to the supporters and is encouraging people to come out in numbers to cheer and support the team.
