HONOURED to represent her country, Team Fiji swimmer Kelera Mudunasoko was one of the key highlights of yesterday’s events on day three of the 14th Oceania Swimming Championships.

Mudunasoko finished third in the women’s 100m breaststroke heats with a time of 40.04s.

Australia’s Keahine Bergin came first in 36.79s while Lily McGrath of New Zealand was second with 37.86s.

Mudunasoko featured in the finals last night at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva.

She cherished the opportunity to swim for the noble banner blue, having become an established force for Fiji in the swimming arena from a young age.

“I feel honoured to represent my country and it’s always been a privilege,” Mudunasoko said.

“I’m just excited to meet all my friends from other countries.”

Finishing her heat, a key takeaway from that event was her move to improve in the pool as she progressed onto the finals in the evening.

“So far, it’s just my non-breaststrokes which is pretty weird because I’ve been training (for) breaststrokes this whole year.”

With an added emphasis on improving herself, she highlighted her achievement of setting a new personal best and hoped to finish well in the final in the evening.

Mudunasoko was Fiji’s flag bearer to the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Koror, Palau and is a student of Natabua High School who hails from the island of Lakeba in Lau with maternal links to Nadroga.

She was also a gold medalist at the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands and a national record holder in multiple breaststroke events.

In the Mini Games last year, she won gold in the women’s 50m breaststroke with a time of 32.62s and in the women’s 100m breaststroke with a time 1:12.01.
