The finals of the Taras Supermarket Tailevu Rugby 10s Tournament will kick off today at Ratu Ravuama School grounds in Mokani with a total of 32 club teams and four women’s teams competing for the top honors.
The main cup winners will receive $1,000, while the runners-up and semi-finalists will receive $500 and $200 each, respectively.
In the women’s category, the winners will receive $300, the runners-up $200, and the best player $50.
According to Tailevu Rugby Union club games chairman Malakai Yamaivava, the tournament serves as a pre-season event for clubs registered under the Tailevu Rugby Football Union, aiming to prepare them for the upcoming 2025 Clubs Games Competition starting on June 28.
With an abundance of talent on display, the competition is a testament to grassroots rugby, and the organisers are grateful for the support and participation of all players.
“We can see a lot of talent in the competition, this is grassroots rugby, and we are thankful for all the support and players that are participating,” said Yamaivava.
“Teams to watch out for in the tournament include FA & CO Mokani, Nakelo, Kasavu, and Korowaciri.”
