The Father Law Home yesterday received $10,000 financial assistance from Hangton Pacific Company Pte Ltd which will be used by the board to meet the home’s operational costs.

Shipping Services chief executive officer and Father Law Home board chair Jeffrey Lin said they were grateful for Hangton Pacific to come on board to support their work.

Mr Lin said the home had 26 residents with the oldest resident turning 103 year-old in May this year.

“It costs us $13,000 to $15,000 a month to take care of the home and we have been fortunate to receive such financial assistance from donors – mainly corporate houses,” he said.

According to Mr Lin the board of directors had come up with a plan to invest in a high end retirement home in Veisari, Lami as part of its revenue generating projects. “We had the plans and designs drawn up but then COVID-19 hit and everything was put on hold,” he said.

Mr Lin said they planned to use the income from the retirement home to fund the operational costs and other capital investment that were needed at the home.

He said the Father Law Home in Veisari employed 12 staff members and care givers who took care of the residents. “Funding is our greatest challenge and we are urging corporate houses and individuals to support the board and the home.”

Hangton Pacific’s general manager Jitendra Mohan said the company had been a supporter of the home over the years because they believed in the sustainability of the home.

Mr Mohan said they believed in giving back to the community and urged other business houses to come forward to support the Father Law Home.

He said the board of directors had revenue generating ideas and they were also open to more similar ideas that would assist in looking after the welfare of the residents.

Mr Lin said the board of directors was made up of a group of friends who ran their own businesses and had the same goal.

“The board needs from donors and we continue to request them to assist us.”
