MORE than 100 police officers will be at the HFC Bank Stadium for the 2025 Coca Cola Games this week.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe said yesterday police had received information on drug dealers aiming to peddle their illegal wares at the venue of the three-day event.

SSP Vusonilawe said the police contingent would include the canine unit with three teams stationed at the stadium entrance, bus stations and the Suva bus terminal.

“We believe that drug dealers are targeting the Coca-Cola Games. So, we have prepared the security layout for the Fiji Finals, and for that we won’t take any criminal elements lightly and we won’t compromise with the law,” SSP Vusonilawe said.

“People will have to go through clearance and be inspected before they enter the stadium.

“Just like last year, we will deploy our canine unit as well, our tracker dogs, together with our sniffer dogs, at the entrance and the surroundings.”

SSP Vusonilawe pointed to the uprooting of marijuana worth a street value of $36million last month.

“We are so blessed that we have managed to reduce the amount of drugs from the streets before the Coca-Cola Games, and we are still continuing.

“We deployed our officers from the beginning of March to various locations where they uprooted the drugs.”
