TEN players have failed drug tests on the opening three days of the 2025 FMF Inter-District Championship.
Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that one out of the 10 is from the Super Premier Division.
“Three players tested positive on the third day. One of the three is from a Super Premier Division team,”Yusuf confirmed.
Meanwhile, Fiji FA general manager operations Anushil Kumar says more awareness programs will be held to try and counter these issues.
“Talks are already underway to see how we can work on this.
“We will hold more awareness campaigns so we can get this solved from grassroots level,”Kumar said.
Drug tests will continue during the semi-finals of the competition today.
The Fiji FA revealed earlier that the data derived from the tests would help the association step up its efforts to combat the use of drugs or the consumption of alcohol within the sport.
Meanwhile, during the Battle of the Giants in Labasa in August, a total of three players tested positive for illegal substances. One of the players who returned a negative test had their result showing signs of alcohol consumption.
During the Fiji FACT in June, three players also tested positive.
