AT just 18, Phoebe Chelsea Madden is stepping into the spotlight at the Hibiscus Festival with youthful enthusiasm and a determination to grow.
The Year 13 student of Nadi Muslim College is carrying the sash of Miss Emerald Development at the 69th Hibiscus Festival.
Despite never having competed in a pageant before and entering without a sponsor, Ms Madden sees the competition as an opportunity to push herself beyond her comfort zone.
“I decided to join the Hibiscus pageant because I believe it will boost my confidence, improve my public speaking and communication skills, and give me valuable experience,” she said.
“It’s also a great way to create networks and possibly open doors to future opportunities like scholarships.”
The Malawai, Votualevu native listed dancing as her special talent.
She is fluent in both English and Fijian.
Off stage, Phoebe keeps active with netball, basketball, and swimming, while also enjoying quiet time with her books. Her advocacy centres on inspiring youth to embrace self-love and recognise their worth.
Despite being one of the youngest contestants, Ms Madden hopes to shine through her sincerity and drive.
