You carry the hopes and dreams of an entire nation. These were the parting words of Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru to the FIJI Water Flying Fijians who flew out the country yesterday bound for France and Rugby World Cup.

“As you prepare to represent Fiji on the international stage, I urge you to remember the values and principles that have shaped our rugby legacy,” Saukuru said.

“Let humility guide your actions, respect your opponents, and play with the utmost sportsmanship. Remember that you are not only ambassadors for our beloved sport but also for our entire nation.”

Minister Saukuru said that over the years the national 15s rugby team has become a symbol of resilience, unity and excellence.

“With every match played, you have showcased the true spirit of Fijian rugby while inspiring countless individuals, both young and old, across our beautiful nation,” he said.

“Your success on the field has not only brought joy to our hearts but has also fostered a sense of national pride that unites us all.”

The minister urged the team “to remember the values and principles that have shaped our rugby legacy”.

The team was also visited by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka who bade farewell to the boys during an itatau ceremony at Tanoa International Hotel early yesterday morning before their flight to Hong Kong.
