Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has assured the six Ministry of Health officials injured in last week’s maritime tragedy that they remain in the thoughts and prayers of the nation as they continue their recovery.
The Prime Minister visited the six officials at Twomey Hospital in Tamavua today, where they are receiving treatment following the incident in Lau waters.
During the visit, he spent time with each of the recovering officials, offering words of encouragement and thanking them for their dedicated service to the people of Fiji.
Rabuka also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the officials throughout their recovery and ensuring they receive the care and assistance they need.
Addressing the group, he said: “Vinaka vakalevu na qaravi tavi ena yalo dina, dou vakaukauwa tiko, keimami sa veinanumi tiko mai vei kemudou ena masu mo dou bulabula vinaka.”
Translated, he said: “Thank you very much for your dedicated and selfless service. Stay strong. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and we pray for your full recovery.”
The six health officials were rescued following the maritime incident in Lau waters last week and have since been receiving medical treatment in Suva.
