Yaqona ranked as the top agricultural commodity out of the top nine commodities (crop and livestock) that contributed to the 2023 agricultural gross domestic product.

According to Fiji Agricultural Statistics, yaqona contributed $234.6million, which was a 27.9 percent contribution and saw a positive growth of 3.1 percent.

Vegetables, contributed $79.3million towards the GDP (9.4 percent), a staggering positive growth of 30.8 per cent.

Taro, contributed $67.9million towards the GDP (8.1 per cent), a positive growth of 2.1 percent.

According to the statistics, Cassava contributed $59.5million (7.1 percent to the GDP), a positive growth of 13.9 percent.

Poultry, made a contribution of $25.7million (3.1 percent), however, it suffered a 7.3 percent negative growth.

Banana, which saw a 22.5 percent positive growth, contributed $16.2million to the GDP (1.9 percent), while beef contributed $13.4million (1.6 percent), a positive growth of 23.5 percent.

Other livestock, contributed $11.8 million towards the GDP (1.4 percent), and had a positive growth of 12.3 percent.

Ginger contributed $8.9million towards the GDP (1.1 percent), a positive growth of 10.4 percent.
