“DIWALI is to be celebrated every day in our lives.”
These were the sentiments shared by Department of Heritage and Arts director Collin Yabaki during the Suva Multi Cultural Center Deepawali Ustav celebrations at Kshatriya Hall in Suva yesterday.
“Our focus is to share and love for each other. It is a time of reconciliation. Festival of lights is celebrated not only in the world but in Fiji as well,” Mr Yabaki said.
“The festival signifies our culture and tradition. The main thing about this celebration is the triumphant of light over darkness and good over evil.
“When we look at this phrase, it talks about how we as a nation and family celebrate the light of happiness and love.” More than 200 people were part of yesterday’s celebration.
Deepawali will be celebrated on October 27.
