ACT Brumbies and Australian Wallabies full-back Tom Wright says he knows his team will want to maintain its winning edge over the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua when they meet in Ba this Saturday.

He revealed this in an interview with Times Sport in Auckland, New Zealand during the launch of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition last month.

Wright, who is still on a nine-month rehab period after suffering an ACL knee injury in a Test match against South Africa last August, affirmed the upper hand was with the Drua in what will be a tough match for the Australian team.

“I think we were the first Australian (Super Rugby) side last year to knock over the Drua on home soil, which was pleasing,” Wright told Times Sport in Auckland.

“We’re all pretty aware of the threat that the (Fijian) Drua will have and particularly again at home for them, in front of their fans.”

The Drua has never won against the Brumbies in their five previous meetings since April 2022 and were beaten in their first 2025 Super Rugby match at home in Suva.

This Saturday’s clash in the fifth round of the competition will be held at the newly-rebuilt 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba which is expected to draw a record crowd for a Super Rugby Pacific match in Fiji.

And with the Drua eyeing a second win after their 25-20 win over the Hurricanes in Lautoka in round three, the team advances with its new signings such as halfback Issak Fines-Leleiwasa. Wright reflected on the short stint Fines-Leleiwasa had with the Brumbies and how his move to Fiji with his family was an opportunity for him to connect with his roots.

“It’s awesome to see Fines(-Leleiwasa) go back and spend some time now in Fiji; I saw he has a family as well.”

Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua engaged in an open training session at Govind Park yesterday where they met fans afterwards for photo opportunities and giveaways.

The Drua and the Brumbies clash at 3.30pm.
