The world’s largest sparkling wine producer, Henkell Freixenet, is in Fiji.
The German brand distributed locally by Motibhai Group offers a new option for the fine dining experience.
Henkell Freixenet Australia and Oceania managing director Sean Shortt said the entry of their product into the Fijian market was timely.
“Sparkling is about celebration and there is a plenty of celebration going on Fiji, particularly post-COVID,” Mr Shortt said.
“We’ve got thousands of tourists coming back so we thought it was a good opportunity to come to Fiji.
“The ones we are focusing on are three key brands, Henkell from Germany, Mineta Prosecco from Italy and Freixenet from Barcelona in Spain.”
He said while sparkling wine was a new concept in the local market, more people have been choosing the unique product.
“When you are on holiday as a tourist and you want a glass of bubbles, they provide a solution for people to enjoy themselves.
“But the thing about sparkling is it is not just about a celebration it can be used with a meal.
“The response has been very positive and I think people are more health conscious now that they prefer the sparkling wine over the heavier wine.
“So we are seeing that happen right across the world.”
Motibhai Group executive director Bhupendra Patel said they were proud to be associated with the world-renowned brand.
“Their reputation and the products they have introduced to our company is the world’s best so we are very proud to be associated with them,” he said.
“Shawn has been very committed to training food and beverage staff at various hotels and restaurants about these brands so it helps us market the product.
“I am looking forward to a very bright future with this partnership.”
