AMERICAN multi-award winning turntable twister and music producer DJ Craze jetted into the country to participate in a week-long electronic dance music party at Plantation Island Resort this week.
During a break between events, the 38-year-old Nicaragua-born superstar took time out to show locals how he landed a spot as DJ for Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark tour in 2008.
“When I told my friends that I was going to Fiji, they all freaked because Fiji is the ultimate exotic island destination and in the few days I’ve been here I can see why,” the Miami resident shared.
“My message for all the young Fijian DJs out there is to incorporate something from your culture into your sound.
“I do it all the time and that’s what made me different and took me to the top.
Christopher Mallam and Albert Eastgate from Technical Glitch, organisers of the inaugural workshop, said it was an honour to have someone of Craze’s calibre at the event.
“He is the Christiano Ronaldo of the DJ business and the local DJs that participated in the workshop really learnt a lot from what he had to share,” they said.
DJ Craze was born Aristh Delgado on November 19, 1977 in Nicaragua.
He is the only solo DJ in history to claim the DMC World DJ Championship trophy three times in a row from 1998 to 2000.
