A LEADING Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions provider designed and implemented a full turn-key end-to-end network infrastructure for the newly-renovated DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji.
Telecom Fiji Ltd (TFL) will provide services such as IP-PABX system for voice, data connectivity from mainland, high speed internet access, Wi-Fi, structured cabling, fibre optic for backbone connectivity to the rooms, network security firewalls, IP-TV, Video-on-Demand and in-room real time access to flight information.
The network infrastructure also caters for other services such as CCTV surveillance and fire alarm management system.
TFL chief executive officer Mothilal De Silva said this was a landmark ICT project for Fiji and certainly was one of the single largest enterprise projects ever undertaken by TFL, and required very close collaboration and co-ordination with our various internal technical teams, suppliers, partners, 3rd party systems integrators, and the DoubleTree and Hilton technical teams.
DoubleTree Resort is a subsidiary arm of Vision Group.
“We thank Vision Group for having faith and confidence in choosing Telecom Fiji as their technology partner to design and implement this world-class solution for their property,” Mr De Silva said.
“Our technical team went through a detailed design process with the involvement of Hilton teams, to ensure that the solution was fully compliant with Hilton global standards.
“The communications network solution had to accommodate a wide variety of activities and distributed structures, including office and administration buildings, boardroom and conference center, children’s corner, bure, retail shops, spas, bars, outdoor activity centres, TV signal reception centre, mainland office and staff quarters.”
The CEO of Vision Group, PL Munasinghe said TFL’s design and solution was very compelling and based on a single platform supporting all the resorts administrative and guest services and functions.
“Given the nature of our target clientele, we wanted to offer unparalleled levels of service that the guests would remember for years to come.
“We recognise the important role that technology plays in attaining such high standards, and we also appreciate the value of having a strong and reliable ICT partner that can deliver and support such a technically complex solution,” Mr Munasinghe said.
“Having shared a history of strong partnership, Telecom Fiji was our natural choice as we had full confidence in Telecom Fiji’s ability to deliver a solution to meet our requirements.”
Prashant Nandha and Shailesh Kumar, directors of Paradigm Shift and the ICT consultant for overall project said they were extremely pleased with the overall project delivery.
“We knew that Telecom Fiji had the experience and know-how, were very well resourced and technically competent to design and implement this project.
“We wanted a one-stop-shop approach for ICT requirements and Telecom Fiji is probably the only company in Fiji that could deliver all the components of this solution.”
Telecom Fiji Ltd is currently planning to deploy undersea optic fibre cables connecting the resort to mainland for all the hotel as well as retail and banking services required on the island.
