The Ministry of Finance’s Strategic Planning Office has begun work on Fiji’s next National Strategic Human Resource Plan (NSHRP), which will guide workforce planning from 2026 to 2035.

Assistant Minister Esrom Emmanuel said the plan would replace the previous framework, which expired in 2015.

“The Ministry of Finance’s Strategic Planning Office has started the process of formulating Fiji’s new National Strategic Resource Plan (NSHRP) for 2026 to 2035,” he said.

“The last NSHRP expired in 2015.”

He said the plan was being developed using the bureau’s latest population, employment, and labour market data to better align policies with workforce needs.

“As part of this work, we are currently analysing the bureau’s latest population data, employment and unemployment data, and labour market statistics to gauge Fiji’s current labour market operations.”

Mr Emmanuel said consultations with key stakeholders were underway, and a steering committee would soon review draft chapters of the plan.

He said the new NSHRP would play a key role in shaping Fiji’s long-term human resource development priorities.
