Everyone’s support is needed if Fijian football is to reach greater heights.

This was the sentiment shared by new national football coach Flemming Serristlev  in  an interview with the Fiji Times online today.

The Danish man said all officials will have to work hand in hand to get the best results.

“I have set the bar high and one should do that. My aim is together with all the coaches and the administration here in Fiji FA is for Fiji to be the best team in the region,” he said.

The former Denmark mid-fielder who played three times for his national side said he was lucky to see some matches before sports came to a halt in the country.

“I am very happy to be here in Fiji. Everything has started very well. I have watched a few matches in the Premier League (VPL), I have watched Lautoka and Ba play in the OFC Champions League. We have had two very good camps with the national team but unfortunately like everybody else we were interrupted by this terrible pandemic.”

Serristlev added from what he has seen, the pace of football in the country needs to be faster for Fiji to match bigger names on the football field.

Meanwhile, he held a coaching clinic for southern division coaches at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa, Suva today.

Some of the coaches taking part in today’s workshop include Rewa’s Marika Rodu, Suva’s Babs Khan, Navua’s Sailosi Danford and Nasinu’s Tagi Vonolagi.
