FIJIANA player Ilisapeci Delaiwai has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.
Fiji Rugby confirmed the news yesterday, stating that Delaiwau departed the squad due to a hand injury.
She suffered this injury during the first half of the opening match against Canada last Sunday.
“I am disappointed to miss the rest of the Rugby World Cup campaign but will be Fijiana’s number one supporter as I begin my rehabilitation,” she said.
The Fijiana 7s Olympian has been replaced by Repeka Mata who is expected to join the squad in England soon.
Head coach Ioan Cunningham said it was saddening to lose a player of Delaiwau’s quality but they are ready to welcome and integrate Mata into the squad.
Fijiana’s next match is against Scotland on Sunday at 1.45am.
