THE Fiji Roads Authority is making steady progress on the Rakiraki Ellington Wharf repair project, with the initiative now 54 percent complete.
The successful completion of all essential piling works has ended.
The authority states piling works are 100 percent complete, and precast slab installation has reached 70 percent.
The project team is currently focusing on this critical phase, which is vital for forming the new wharf structure.
Despite challenges posed by unfavourable site conditions for pile installation, the FRA stated it has maintained consistent progress.
The upcoming phases include backfilling works, concrete deck slab construction and ancillary tasks.
The final stage will involve the installation and construction of the wharf deck, which will restore the wharf to full operational capacity.
Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau commended the authority for the project, saying it would make access from the Western Division to Vanua Levu much easier.
