Muaira Rugby League Head of Football Jone Wesele is working hard with the Muaira State to expand the competition and expose untapped talent.
Wesele said they had introduced the Kai/ Maseki /Tau tournament to help identify talent from the youth category to women’s and senior men’s divisions, aiming to adopt the NRL style of play and rules.
“We are trying to expand competition in the Muaira State and let players try to adopt to the NRL style. We have talented rugby league players in the West who needs exposure and have what it takes to wear the Fiji Bati jersey it just needs guidance so far, I like what i’m seeing.
“We have kicked off the Kai/ Maseki/ Tau tournament, and it was a success. I’m glad everyone enjoyed it,” Wesele said.
Wesele strongly feels there’s a big task at hand as they are also currently looking for sponsors.
“This is a big task but the way I’m seeing it, the sport will grow and expand in the Muaira State and we call for sponsors to come in and help us achieve our mission,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Nadi/Nadroga/Navosa zone will continue their third round of competition at Nakalevu Grounds this Saturday with U19 and women’s matches.
The U19 matches will see Laselase Cowboys take on Namoli West Tigers, and Saru Dragons play against Conua Kingfisher.
